ROCKWELL Automation has added Field Device Tool process device configuration to version 2.31 of its FactoryTalk AssetCentre software.
According to Rockwell Automation, the new process device configuration feature will help manufacturers in process industries centrally manage and maintain their production environments.
FactoryTalk AssetCentre version 2.31 will allow engineering staff to remotely connect and conduct instrument diagnostics, view and edit device configurations, and quickly swap out or reconfigure devices with the last-known good configuration.
The process device configuration feature uses Field Device Tool technology as a standardised communication interface between the field devices and systems. Rockwell Automation says it chose Field Device Tool because the industry standard addresses the broadest spectrum of device technologies.
The process device configuration feature also uses the iDTM for the HART Communication Protocol, so as to take advantage of diagnostic information that is already available in many of today’s processing facilities.
Rockwell Automation says version 2.31 of the FactoryTalk AssetCentre asset management software also includes calibration management capabilities and disaster recovery support for Rockwell Automation and third-party controller, operator interface and robotic assets.
