BEA has released an industrial sensor which combines motion and presence sensing for use with automatic doors.
The dual technology avoids the need for separate sensors or inductive loops. According to the company, the IS40 Dual Technology Sensor can activate automatic doors and detects presence in the doorway to keep doors from closing when an object or person is in the threshold area.
The IS40 is said to have millisecond reaction times to prevent damage to industrial automatic doors and equipment, by stopping doors from closing on an object. The unit can be customised to fit specific application needs with various activation modes.
The size of the monitored area, the size of the activator, and the length of activation can be adjusted via the infrared and microwave sensors.
