BILFINGER Berger Services has been awarded Infrastructure Partnerships Australia’s Contractor Excellence Award 2009 for the Uranquinty Power Station project.

According to Bilfinger Berger Services, the Uranquinty Power Station project was unusual because of the tripartite agreement between client, constructor and equipment supplier to work together to deliver the project.

Bilfinger Berger Services says the power station on time and on budget with the plant producing greater than nameplate capacity. It was also constructed to stringent environmental standards including low noise emissions and without storm water discharge from the site.

The Uranquinty Power Station is a 640 MW open cycle gas turbine peaker power station located at Uranquinty, in south-west NSW. The power station is now owned by Origin Energy.
