Thermoplastic a suitable replacement part
ACCORDING to Dotmar, its ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) thermoplastic material offers properties which make it a suitable replacement part for certain areas in factories.
The company offers Rochling Polystone UHMWPE, which is said to have a greater molecular weight than other commercial grades. The distributor claims this results in an extremely tough material with high impact strength even at low temperatures, and high resistance to corrosive chemicals.
The lightweight thermoplastic is said to be weatherproof, with extremely low moisture absorption, a very low coefficient of friction, and high dielectric resistance. Fifteen times more resistant to abrasion than carbon steel, UHMWPE is self-lubricating, odourless, tasteless, non-toxic, and cheaper than metal.
The company recommends the use of the thermoplastic for wear profiles, chain guides, flow promotion liners, components in machinery, sprockets, bearings and dewatering elements.
