Remote condition monitoring system for energy chains

The push pull force detection system (PPDS) by Igus monitors the shifting force of energy chains to help prevent damage and breakdown to the entire energy supply system. TREOTHAM Automation is distributing a new remote condition monitoring and diagnostic system for industrial energy chain equipment and cranes in Australia.
The push pull force detection system (PPDS) by Igus monitors the shifting force of energy chains to help prevent damage and breakdown to the entire energy supply system. According to the manufacturer, it enables operators to engage in preventive maintenance and remote corrective action.
Every four seconds, data on the push-pull force of the system are compared with a calculated target setting. The target force is calculated based on the position of the moving end of the chain.
If a malfunction is detected, a message in the form of email or SMS can be sent to any required location. The tool also has a memory capacity of 128MB, allowing data to be stored internally for up to three months.
The company claims the monitoring and diagnostic system is already being used in several large facilities around the world. It is suitable for crane control systems, chains, cables and guide troughs.
