According to the manufacturer, all its flow meters are calibrated in its flow lab to match the gas composition and flow conditions of the user’s digester system.AMS Instrumentation & Calibration is distributing a mass flow meter to aid plant engineers improve digesting processes.
The ST51 Fluid Components International (FCI) mass flow meter is said to be optimised for wastewater treatment. It is full-featured with high accuracy electronics in a compact and explosion-proof housing.
Engineers in charge of measuring digester gas flows in wastewater facilities often find the job challenging because of the wet, dirty and mixed composition nature of anaerobic digester biogas.
The gas mixture in such applications can be dangerous, being a combination of methane, carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulphide. The environment tends to be corrosive because of these gases. The gas flow condensate deposits particulates on the pipe walls and instruments in the pipe, wearing down equipment.
According to the manufacturer, all its flow meters are calibrated in its flow lab to match the gas composition and flow conditions of the user’s digester system.
The unit has a thermal mass flow sensing element which utilises no moving parts, and has no orifices to clog or foul. It is made of 316L stainless steel built to resist corrosion. A built-in temperature compensation circuitry allows for repeatable measurement regardless of seasonal temperatures.
