SUMMIT Matsu Chilling Systems has provided Coregas with a chiller to cool the gas company’s new nitrogen liquefier.

The chiller was supplied as part of Coregas’ plant upgrade to increase production capacity.

Coregas supplies domestic and international markets with industrial, medical and specialty gas, including g oxygen, nitrogen and krypton.

When Coregas sought to modify their existing air separation plant at Port Kembla to increase production capacity, it installed a new nitrogen liquefier. The liquefier can produce different grades of liquid nitrogen for use in electronics, food processing, pharmaceuticals and industrial applications.

However, this liquefier needed a reliable chiller to cool the water involved in the process. The chiller needed to be reliable and easily serviced so that the liquefier could run smoothly.

Summit Matsu Chilling Systems was called in to design and manufacture the 155kW unit. According to the company, the resulting unit was both reliable and able to withstand the toughest demands that were placed on it.

Coregas also benefited from having the chiller made in Australia, with the advantages of quick communication and shorter lead times, as well as access to the specialised knowledge of the engineers that built the chiller should a problem arise.
