SKF says it is expanding its network of SKF Solution Factories, with openings in China’s Tianjin and Shanghai, Sweden’s Gothenburg, Italy’s Torino and Sao Paolo in Brazil.
SKF says it plans to establish around 15 of the factories in 2009, allowing it to serve customers in every continent.
SKF Solution Factories concentrate the company’s knowledge resources, providing post-sales support. It brings together SKF’s service offerings, as well as the bearings, seals, services, lubrication and mechatronics platforms.
Customers who have previously just purchased bearings and seals from SKF can ask the SKF Solution Factory to help cut operational costs, improve availability, or help with other tasks to make their plants run more efficiently.
Typical services SKF provides are within lubrication solutions, sealing solutions, remanufacturing of bearings, spindle service and other mechanical services as well as remote monitoring, project management and training.
