Alternative engineering materials

Alternative engineering materials

DOTMAR claims it can increase machinery life while reducing operating costs and downtime with its engineering plastics.

According to the company, its advanced engineering plastic products such as Ertacetal, Ertalon and Ertalyte can replace traditional engineering materials such as bronze, stainless steel, mild steels and titanium.

It claims the plastics have superior self-lubricating properties, machinability, and upfront costs to the traditional materials. They also weigh less, and can be engineered to be resistant to chemicals, impact, and have high operating temperatures.

The alternative materials can be used for gears, rope sheaves, bushes and bearings, feed scrolls and cutting boards.
