Tough plastics

DOTMAR has released two new treated plastics which resist scratches, ultraviolet rays (UV), chemicals and impact, for use in engineering and manufacturing processes.
The Safeguard UVX has UV protective coatings on both sides, and is said to have good weathering properties, whilst maintaining high clarity and impact resistance. It comes clear, but can be tinted.
According to the company, the Safeguard UVX is shock resistant, compliant with occupational health and safety standards, thermally stable, and flame retardant.
It can be used for machine guards and enclosures, noise control, or switchgear cabinets.
The Safeguard Hard is said to have a hard coat surface applied to both sides, and resists scratch, chemical, graffiti and UV.
The manufacturer claims its high abrasion resistance and impact resistance gives the plastic application in areas with more public exposure such as in guarded windows or noise walls.
