Tough, eco-friendly and self-maintaining compressors to last 30 years

CAPS Australia will be providing custom-built critical equipment to Woodside Energy for its North Rankin B Platform in the NT.

According to the company, its air instrument package, comprising of three 160 kilowatt air-cooled rotary screw compressors, will meet the required 30 year lifecycle.

The coolers will be purpose-built in titanium, with duplex and super duplex stainless steel internal oil handling systems.

The enclosures, all filters and air dryers will be made of 316 stainless steel. A programmable logic controller (PLC) will control all three compressors. This controller is equipped with a host of information gathering instruments. It has full redundancy and emergency power supplies for minimal disruption.

The location of Rankin is within one of the world’s most environmentally sensitive regions, so all coolant, lubricant and drying media will be non-hazardous and eco-friendly.
