Compact radar level transmitter
SIEMENS Industrial has released a compact radar level transmitter with advanced signal processing and applications in corrosive environments.
According to the company, its Sitrans LR250 unit has an inbuilt technology called ‘Process Intelligence’. This processing technology applies algorithms to raw echoes to produce accurate and reliable level measurement readings, and can automatically ignore obstructions.
The plug-and-play 25Ghz 2-wire radar transmitter is said to be easy to install and quick to configure, with liquid or slurry level measured in minutes.
The unit has a compact horn to allow installation in small openings, and the concentrated high frequency beam minimises interference from vessel walls. A high frequency and narrow transmission pulse measures the complete vessel capacity.
The LR250 has a polyester powder-coated aluminium enclosure, encapsulated electronics, glass antenna seal, stainless steel horn and optional hastelloy antenna material.
The transmitter can be programmed via infrared without opening the lid, preventing exposure of the electronics to aggressive atmospheres.
The radar level transmitter is expected to see applications in corrosive environments, including chemical and hydrocarbon processing applications.
