Coating process renders pipes erosion and impact resistant

The developers claim the external lining is impervious to gases and chemicals, and renders the pipe impact resistant.INNERLINE Pipe has released information about its patented coating process for pipelines and other parts.

According to the company, the process was developed in Australia. It enables steel pipes to be both externally and internally lined with a non-erosive polymer. The pipe is then further insulated with a thermal polymer to retain heat.

The developers claim the external lining is impervious to gases and chemicals, and renders the pipe impact resistant. The process is also said to be an alternative to the traditionally labour intensive on-site pipe sleeving and external lining processes used at oil, gas and petrochemical facilities.

The coating can be applied to carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, concrete, ceramic and timber. Steel scaffold boards, gutters, barriers, formwork, lumber, and jetties can also be treated.
