Aussie company modernising China’s mines
INDUSTREA will provide four directional drilling and degasification systems to China’s Longmei Mining Group, under a $10m contract to modernise the Chinese mining industry.
According to the equipment provider, this will increase the safety and productivity at the mining facilities. The company says it will also sell spare parts and servicing for the equipment, allowing for an ongoing stream of revenue.
The manufacturer claims China’s resources sector was one of the largest and fastest-growing in the world. This is because of a strong demand for energy, and a push toward self-sufficiency and modernisation.
Increasing productivity and safety are of particular focus to the industry as it upgrades its equipment and facilities. China’s mines have long been seen as being unsafe, and this is a reputation miners are now eager to dispel.
The directional drilling equipment assists in the accurate placement of in-seam horizontal bore holes, while degasification equipment aids to get rid of hazardous gases in mines and is suitable for both underground and surface drilling.
