Apprenticeships to alleviate maintenance shortage

The company had identified a need to boost its next generation of specialised field staff to maintain and upgrade high voltage equipmentINTEGRAL Energy is doing its part to alleviate the shortage of maintenance personnel, kicking off its Transmission System Electrician apprenticeship program with 15 new apprentices.

According to the state-owned energy corporation, the apprentices are being trained in the maintenance and upgrade of its high voltage network.

The company had identified a need to boost its next generation of specialised field staff to maintain and upgrade high voltage equipment across the network.

15 apprentices were selected from a competitive pool of 1200 applications from across Australia.

The apprentices will be trained for four years before becoming the first graduates of the program.

Integral claims it offers competitive pay rates, specialised training, a nine-day fortnight and a range of opportunities to move into engineering-based roles. It will launch its 2009 apprentice recruitment campaign
